Holler goes out to New Jersey . Funny this town should pop up . On my trip north to Vermont a few years ago , in my haste I opted to beat that nasty ol interstate . Got off in your town and drove thru Princeton also , looking for the fast track out to 287 . Big mistake !
Stopped at a black gas station and got directed further into the funnel .
Stopped at some Indian store and he refused even to acknowledge my presence .
And then , finally ... I met a good ol boy . Don't believe he said where he was from but it was heavy Aussie accent or perhaps even South African .
It was his station , and he looked well able to take care of it . Probably had to more than a few times . The sun was about set and I wanted to get on the open highway ! I did give him some reading literature and he was very receptive .
Often wondered his story and if he was still even there . Thanks again brother for your help .
I was quite surprised at how pretty and even mountainous areas of New Jersey were . Would love to revisit one day , as soon as I get my uhaul trailer rigged up with the spare .50 's !!

An after thought ... heading back home I left Vermont about 6 o' clock in the evening . It was summertime , heat of the day and all ( total trip
non - stop was 18 hours ) . Decided not to take the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel this time . Hit the Baltimore toll plaza at 3 : 30 in the morning and they were way backed up - even then ! Love the way yall's service stations are set up right on the interstate though .
