Battle of Blood River

About a year ago, maybe two, Uncle Cracker ... a blogger on the old "South Africa Sucks" site did a great post on the Battle of Blood River, but I cannot seem to find it in my archives at the moment. December 16th is a day remembered by many a South African who recognizes the intervention of God in their affairs. They built a monument in remembrance and call this the Day of the Vow, but in like manner as our Lee - Jackson day has been tainted with Martin Luther Coon inclusion, their day has been renamed the Day of Reconciliation. Yeah, right. Reconcile - as in forget all the bloody murders of times past and those commited daily against our white kinfolk there.

I had read somewhere but also cannot find it - many years after this battle several Zulu chiefs were interviewed and said that while they were indeed catching grief from the Boere inside the laager, they were having just as much trouble from the "Boere's" who were shooting at them from up in the clouds ! You make of that what YOU will.

(update) - Dark Raven just posted an excellent article on "My South Africa Sucks" - swing on by and have a read ...

I am Ghost - thanks for dropping in. Any input you want to contribute, pics or info would be greatly appreciated and, with your permission, posted.

I may forget our own days here sometimes but for some reason the Battle of Blood River sticks close to my heart. We have not forgotten yall. Take care.

This is an amazing story, and truly a latter-day miracle. Thanks for the vids Jeff. It demonstrates that if we humble ourselves in obedience and have YHWH on our side, NO ONE can defeat us, no matter what the odds look like.

I posted a story on my blog earlier this year on the battle. link (article by Pastor Mark Downey of Kinsman Redeemer)

Amen Lone Wolf ... this is the truth. I look for more "Blood Rivers" in the future for servants of Christ wherever we may be.

Will check out your post, I'm sure it is rather more detailed than my throw together here. Thanks for the link.

Excellent link man. Once I got to reading it I thought it sounded familiar. What an great addition to have that SA'n commenter add their thoughts also.

I thought I had read elsewhere that there were not even any animal deaths. Quite an amazing deliverance indeed.
